What Are Ave Maria University's Admission Standards?

For freshman admission, you must complete an online AMU application, which can be filled out on our website for free here or through the Common App for $30. We currently hold a 3.0 GPA minimum. You must also complete an admissions interview with one of our admissions counselors and submit your transcript(s) before being accepted. Lastly, we are currently "test optional" which means you do not need to have a standardized test score (ACT, CLT, SAT) to be accepted, but we highly encourage students to take a test/submit a score because it usually helps out significantly with scholarships.

The acceptance criteria for undergraduate admissions are as follows:

  • Carry an unweighted high school GPA of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale or unweighted college GPA of 2.6 on a 4.0 scale
  • Complete admissions interview with an admissions counselor (can be in-person or virtual).
  • Standardized test scores are not required for admission consideration for the 2023 admission cycle. However, submission of test scores is recommended and can make an applicant more competitive for admittance and scholarship awarding.
